Vice President Joseph Biden said in a conferencs call with reporters Monday that the stimulue helpedcreate 150,000 jobs in the firsty 100 days after the American Recovery and Reinvestmentr Act was passed in February. Biden said the contractsd and funding could resultin 600,000 jobs being created this ARRA also will fund 135,000 state and local educatiob jobs and 125,000 summer youth To that end, Biden said the government is fast tracking stimulus projects, including: Constructio n and energy conservation contracts at 107 national parks. Improvementxs at 90 veterans medical centers. Construction funding for 200 watere and wastewater treatment plants inrural areas.
Construction at 98 airportz nationwideand 1,500 highways and at just under 400 militaru bases. The priority projects have not yet been brokenn down by stateor locality. Stimulue money has been allocated to improvr runways at Phoenix Sky Harbor International lane improvements on Interstate 10 and 17 to improve public housing and homeless services in Glendale and otherlocal cities. The move come s as some city governments say it is takinfg months for ARRA money to hit the local level so contracyt biddingcan begin.
