Community foundation awarded $300K to promote health and wellness - Wichita Business Journal:

Strategies for the "Nutrition and Physicalk ActivityExpansion Project" will be coordinated through the 4-year-old Health and Wellnesw Coalition of Wichita, which boasts more than 40 member s ranging from area corporations to nonprofit organizations. Mim Wilkey of the will lead the projectf and the Wichita Community Foundation will act as thefiscal agent. "This provides a greaft opportunity to formulate the next steps in promoting and providingb physical activity and good nutrition opportunitieas toour community," Wilkey said in a writte statement. "This work will not be a one-timed shot, but a leveraging point for our health.
" First-yeat activities include community gatherings, focus groupss and meetings of health coalition partners todiscuss Wichita-specific survey strategies and outreach to community groups representing diverse neighborhoods and constituencies. Grante totaling $172,585 will be competitively awarded in years two and thre of the project in pursuitf of local policies designed to increasde physical activity and good nutrition leadingh to the healthylifestyle goal.
