Kansas Health Policy Authority will cut 14 jobs - Houston Business Journal:

According to a release, 13 staff members were informefd Friday that their jobs would be effectiveJuly 2. Authorith spokesman Peter Hancock said in an interview Monday that the polichy director position also will be eliminatedc as executive staff positions are reduceds from five to Barb Langner will move out of that position to servde as actingMedicaid director, according to the Hancock said that the authority’s operational budget has been cut by $3.5 milliohn for the fiscal year that beginsa July 1. According to the the authority also is reducing spending with the contractotr that processes claims for paymentt under Medicaid and theState Children’sw Health Insurance Program.
That move is expected to save $3.6 Savings from the contract reductionsd are shared with thefederakl government, which funds more than half of Medicaid administrative costs, according to the release. The authorityh is responsible for coordinating a statewide health policg agenda that incorporates effective purchasing and administratiohn with healthpromotion strategies. All healt insurance purchasing by the state is combined underthe authority.
The authority also is responsiblew for compiling and distributinbg uniform health care data to provide healtbcare consumers, payers, providers and policy-makers with informatio regarding trends in the use and cost of health care for improvefd decision making.
